Amanda
Amanda came from San Francisco to have this made by me. She brought me her grandmother’s dress worn in the 1950s. It was also worn by her mother. It was very yellowed and the fabric was very aged, and it did not fit her. The original dress was unable to be used due to the degrading of the fabric over time. I was able to use the original lace to hand create a bespoke custom bodice overlay. Paying close attention to the details of the design in the original gown, I recreated the same design within the lace patterns, so the new design mirrored the original. This was the perfect pairing of the old with the new. When I design a gown like this I am careful to incorporate the original elements to carry them forward. The love that is infused into these gowns flows down through time into the new relationship being established. The completed project was nothing short of miraculous in its transformation. It was a very special project. This gown has now been worn by three generations of brides. Both the mother and the daughter were amazed at the transformation. They loved the elements of the original design that I held constant in the new gown.
